Tailings management

We subscribe to the contemporary imperative of greater transparency and enhanced governance in terms of the technical standards, safety and environmental impact of TSFs, a commitment that so far has led us to implement the following:

  • Aligning our Group wide policy on the management of TSFs at our operations to best practice and expectations
  • Implementing an internal Tailings Performance Management System (“TPMS”) for dedicated data collection, storage and processing to ensure the integrity of the data for day-to-day management and oversight purposes
  • Quarterly drone surveillance
  • Review of various technologies which could be employed to enhance TSF observation and monitoring
  • The establishment of an External Tailings Review Panel
